Information You Submit
Search Entries
A name, place, or other term entered in a search tool is transmitted to the third-party company that operates that tool. Vance County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The receiving provider handles the query under its own privacy practices.
Messages Sent to Us
If you send an email or use a contact form, the message and any contact details you include may be kept long enough to review the request, respond, and maintain an appropriate record of the exchange. Contact messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

- Device category, operating system, and screen characteristics
- Pages opened and the approximate time spent on them

Cookie Controls
Cookies may be used to understand site activity, remember basic preferences, support advertising, and measure performance. Most browsers allow cookies to be restricted or deleted. Blocking them may cause some tools or features to work differently or not work at all.

Collected information is used only for operational, measurement, search-routing, and advertising functions related to the site. These purposes include:
- Keeping pages available, responsive, and technically stable
- Sending a submitted search to the appropriate partner tool

Privacy Beyond This Website
Links may lead to Vance County Sheriff pages, the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, court and federal portals, release-record resources, or outside search services. Public records maintained by North Carolina agencies are governed by applicable law, including North Carolina Chapter 132, and by the originating agency’s rules. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination’s own privacy notice and terms control its data practices.
Advertising providers may use their own cookies, pixels, or similar technology to measure activity across websites and select interest-based advertising. That tracking occurs on the providers’ systems and is governed by their policies, not by this notice alone.
Limited Data Disclosure
Personal information is not sold. Data may, however, be received or processed by a limited set of service providers and public authorities when necessary for the functions described here:
- Search partners that receive and process submitted queries
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and page performance
- Advertising networks that deliver and assess advertisements
- Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order
Reasonable Security Measures
Standard administrative and technical precautions are used to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No website, network connection, storage system, or method of transmission can be guaranteed fully secure. Vance County Released Inmates therefore cannot promise that a breach or other security event will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted personal data, the Contact Us page may be used to request review and deletion.
